This Sales Manager position is responsible for sales and marketing to RAD’s State and Local Safety and Security Markets accounts.  The position works closely with our sales managers, product managers, marketing team and partners to drive our sales and market share in Safety & Security market segments including HazMat and First Responder teams and Law Enforcement.  This position requires domestic travel for meetings, presentations and trade shows / exhibitions.  The candidate must be able to interact well with our customers, their colleagues and our distribution partners, articulate and refine our products’ value selling proposition, and have a thorough understanding of market needs, levers, and penetration strategies.


  • Responsible for sales management and business development in RAD’s US State and Local Safety and Security market segments.
  • Responsible for working with multi-functional team to implement market penetration plans, and driving our sales team towards sales goals.
  • Responsible for creating and managing partnerships focused on state and local sales development.
  • Work with RAD Regional Sales Managers and Marketing Managers by proposing events, initiatives, tactics and strategies.
  • Must help to assure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Arrange introductory meetings, product demonstrations and customer training to promote Rigaku Analytical Devices in the US Safety & Security markets. 
  • Support marketing activities through creation of and contribution to webinars, multimedia, marketing collaterals and workshops.
  • Support sales activities by providing inputs for the development of competitive comparisons, effective product positioning tools, demo scripts and documents to sales and marketing managers as well as by answering Safety & Security  related questions from worldwide RAD sales partners
  • Other special project oriented tasks as needed


  • A minimum of five years of sales experience of technology into one or more Safety and Security market segments on the state and local level. 
  • Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with proven track record indicating excellent results and conversion rate with minimal daily direction.
  • Capable of understanding analytical technology – its capabilities and its limitations – and be able to simplify and explain complex subject matter to a variety of audiences.
  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer and product base.
  • Able to develop strong long-term relationships with customers
  • Must communicate professionally in verbal/written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports as well as effectively communicate in customer-training sessions to a broad range of diverse attendees ranging from high-level decision makers to scientists to field operators with no scientific background.
  • Competitive and driven to win, but with a professional demeanor and approach to attract new customers and build loyalty.
  • Experience and familiarity of Raman or vibrational spectroscopy products is a plus.
  • Background in explosive ordinance disposal and/or hazardous material / first responder protocols and practices is a plus.
  • Ability to work in 24/7 global market, and communicate outside of normal business hours.
  • Must have strong computer skills (MS Office).
  • Must be able to travel 50-75% domestically.   Limited international travel may be requested.
  • Must be able to work from home office.
